DART SERVICE: Public Feeback Wanted

DART wants rider feedback and has scheduled six public meetings to do so.

They’ll run from April 15th to 18th and will be an opportunity for the public to learn about the 2013 service proposal. The proposal includes adding night services on two east-side Des Moines routes, expanding night service for all routes later into the evenings, and expanding hours of operation on weekends

BOYS SOCCER: Ankeny Vs Johnston

The #7 ranked Ankeny Hawks hosted #2 Johnston on the soccer field Monday.

The Dragons and Hawks got after it in a physical back and forth match.

Sam Graving scored twice for the Dragons as Johnston edged Ankeny in a good one, 2 to 1.

RECYCLING CHALLENGE: Families Could Win iPad

Families keen on improving their recycling habits could be in with a chance of winning an iPad.

The Family Recycling Challenge is a 12 week contest for three families in each participating community and is run by Metro Waste Authority.

As part of the scheme, families will attend a celebratory dinner, be part of Curb It! Recycling program and share what they’ve learned with others.

If your family is interested in participating in The Family Recycling Challenge, complete the application by April 26th.

BRAVO GRANTS: Arts Applications Encouraged

Bravo Greater Des Moines has opened applications for this year’s grants.

Until Monday, April 22nd, qualified arts and cultural organizations in central Iowa are encouraged to apply for funding. Since 2005, the nonprofit has awarded $18 million in funding, including more than $2.2 million awarded to 51 organizations last year.

The grants are partially funded by a percentage of the hotel/motel tax revenue received from the following 16 local governments: Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Indianola, Johnston, Norwalk, Polk City, Polk County, Urbandale, Waukee, West Des Moines, and Windsor Heights.

IOWA FOOTBALL: Spring Practice At Valley Stadium

If you’re a Hawkeye football fan in central Iowa you can catch the team at an open practice in West Des Moines this month.

The team will be at Valley Stadium on Sunday, April 14th.

Gates open at noon with the practice starting at 1:30 p.m. The practice is free to attend, but you must have a ticket to get in.

You can get one at the customer service counter at select Hy-Vee stores beginning this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Iowa Public Television has announced its 7th annual reading road trip tour that is set to reach 67 Iowa communities this summer.
