Johnston Schools Honor Iowa Health Employees With R.O.S.E. Award

Johnston Community Schools has honored Iowa Health employees Dr. Jeff Kerber and Lindsey Swan with the R.O.S.E award. The award was presented at the January 10th School Board meeting.

The person who nominated the pair said, "Dr. Kerber and Ms. Swan work for Iowa Health and are the driving force for our Student/Employee Assistance Program.  The program itself is an outstanding support to our students and staff.  They provide counseling services and needed support for our students, families and faculties during some rough times.  They have also provided our staff with outstanding professional development. During the past four Thursdays Dr. Kerber and/or Lindsey Swan have talked with the JMS staff on very relevant and important topics concerning our students.  I had asked if they were willing to talk with our staff and they agreed, but they went beyond the typical 30 minute discussion with the faculty to spending four whole days meeting with each PLC to cover the topics of depression/mood disorders, social anxiety, family dysfunction and stressed caused by families, and substance abuse. The knowledge that has been provided by these key community members is a great first start to helping our staff in helping our students."

The R.O.S.E. award (Recognizing Outstanding Support of Education) recognizes students, staff members, or community members who go "above and beyond" in support of the educational process in the Johnston Community School District.  The recipient will have worked to encourage the success of Johnston children in academics, athletics, activities, and/or community services.
