PIONEER OPENING: Johnston Plant Grand Opening | News
Pioneer is celebrating the opening of a $40 million dollar plant genetics research facility, bringing new jobs to the metro.
The Johnston facility will create 400 jobs in the next 5 years. Federal, state and local leaders took a tour of the new 200-thousand-foot facility on Monday, including Governor Terry Brandstad.
The workers in the new facility will have an important job. They’ll try to increase agriculture productivity to feed the world’s growing population.
That includes work to protect products from disease and pests.
Pioneer says it currently employs 3,400 workers in Iowa.
