WILD WARNING: Coyotes Spotted In Johnston | News
Sightings of some of Wile E. Coyote’s relatives in Johnston have residents concerned, but police say their presence isn’t unusual.
The Johnston Police Department says it has received several calls over the last few weeks about coyotes being spotted in the community.
Police say though it might seem unusual, the presence of coyotes in a metro area isn’t uncommon. The Iowa DNR says coyotes typically don’t pose any risk to humans, but small domesticated animals like cats and dogs may be seen as prey by coyotes.
The DNR advises people not to feed or approach coyotes. Keeping pet food and garbage secure is also a way to keep coyotes from coming to your property.
